Teacher Training Testimonials
Appreciation for Yoga has been a journey for me. When I was younger, Yoga classes meant competing for the best stretch or holding a strength position longer than your neighbor. No time was spent on guided meditation, relaxation, or renewal of the body and spirit. Tia and her qualified teachers have opened my eyes to a wonderful world of Yoga practices that have motivated me to learn so that I can one day share these experiences with others. I am from the Canton, Ohio area and checked out several Yoga studios throughout Canton and Akron but none of them offered as broad a Yoga teaching curriculum as Tia's studio in Mayfield Heights. The men and women in my class are heart-centered individuals who are encouraging and supportive in every way. I am more than half way through my Yoga teacher training program and already look forward to utilizing my current and future Yoga knowledge and practical skills in a variety of ways to touch and help others.
- Lee, RYT 200
My yogic journey began in 2013, when I sought an alternative healing approach to a neck injury. I attended therapeutic yoga at Zen hoping to cure my physical issues. I was surprised to quickly learn that yoga not only offered physical healing, but emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing as well. I learned that much of my neck and upper body issues were a result of long-standing poor posture and chronic stress and tension, which many of the yoga classes I attended at the studio helped me work through. Yoga has allowed me to find that special place of relaxation and wholeness in mind, body and spirit.
When the opportunity arose to join Zen Yoga's 200-hr yoga teacher training program, I jumped right in. Even though I had only been practicing yoga for about 8 months, I had the desire to dig deeper into my spiritual and physical practice. The knowledge and self-reflection I am gaining through the program has been and will continue to be invaluable, not only in my yoga practice, but also in leading a yogic lifestyle. I have noticed positive changes in my outlook on my life and my ability to deal with stress. The teachers in the training program, Latia Phillips-Bey, Nefertiti Peterson, and Freia Ramsey, have vast knowledge and experience. Latia has created an in-depth training program that includes physical asana practice, human anatomy, meditation, chanting, and pranayama. I feel confident that when I graduate in the next few months that I will have the knowledge and background to be an effective, compassionate yoga practitioner and teacher.
I have learned so much over the course of this yoga teacher training about yoga and about myself. I'm grateful for the lessons I've learned about incorporating yoga into every aspect of my daily life and the fruits of joy that come with it.
When I first went to Zen which was Bhakti at the time, I knew right away that it was a place I saw myself being a part of for a very long time. After joining teacher training my life has changed tremendously. The teachers are so nice and warm, they make you feel like you are a part of a family not just a class.
